In this section I wanted to share with you some activities and projects that I designed or adapted, mainly for elementary school levels.

Elementary Level

Song - Footprints in the Sand

This activity was carried out with Intensive ESL grade 6 students during my practicum IV. As a homework, the students had a week to find "one" information about Leona Lewis on the Internet. Before my powerpoint presentation and activity they were asked to share the information that they had found about the singer with the class.

Amusement Park Webquest

I designed this project during my practicum IV. This webquest activity was therefore done with my Intensive grade 6 students. The students had a worksheet to complete with the help of the webquest site. After, they had to create their own ride (see the checklist for the instructions). Finally, the projects were presented in a gallery tour where another 6th grade class was invited to admire my students' work. (The students were not required to do a 3D ride, but some of them decided to do it just for fun)

Project on the Veterans

This project can easily be done with high school students as well!

This project was a great project to heighten the students' awareness to the use of military forces in other countries. This project was based on the newspaper you will find below. With this project I had the chance to discuss with my students about Haiti (my country of origin). They created a poppy flower as an arts & craft activity in which they had to write a message to encourage soldiers, then the poppy flowers were displayed in the hallway. At the end of the project, they each wrote a postcard to a troop member on a mission in Afghanistan. If you would like further information on how the project was conducted do not hesitate to contact me! Here are some links that helped me out:

Tongue Twisters

Here are some great tongue twisters! Tongue twisters are great to start a class and to challenge the students. It also allows them to practice their pronunciation as well as their intonation, rhythm and speed.

Cold Midnight in Vieux Quebec Webquest

This webquest was designed for a literature based unit in my children's literature class. It deals with the Quebec Winter Carnival and the Peewee Tournament. It was never tried out in a real class environment.
